This is a commission rather than an off-the-shelf painting. You send Joshua a photograph of a landscape, and he paints it in oil at the size you have chosen. The result is loose and romantic in the same register as his Thames and Richmond Park work, not photorealistic. Expect a dreamy, colourful interpretation of your photograph, with the same layered brushwork and 18th century sensibility that runs through the rest of his catalogue. Because Joshua paints landscapes, the brief is landscape only: no figures, no faces, no animals. A holiday view, the meadow at the end of a walk you love, the garden of a house you are leaving or arriving at, the stretch of coast you grew up on. These are the kinds of subjects that work. How the commission runs. You choose a size and complete checkout. Joshua emails for your reference photograph. He sketches an initial composition within one to two weeks, then paints the work to completion. Lead times: 10cm x 10cm takes about 4 weeks, 10cm x 15cm about 8 weeks, 30cm x 40cm about 12 weeks. Express shipping is included once the piece is dry. Oil on panel, sold unframed. Hand painted, signed, one of a kind. Gift wrapping available at checkout. Please note custom commissions are non-returnable.

Joshua paints British rivers in oil, the Thames mostly, with a few weeks each year on the Solway coast. The light he chases is the light Constable chased: dusk along Pen Ponds, morning on the towpath, the moment the tide turns at Teddington Lock.
